Why Immigration Laws Keep Changing

In the early 1950`s to 1980`s the immigration policies were quite stable and there was an influx of immigrants coming to North America. Within Canada, there was immigration suction where millions of people came to different provinces from all over the world like Asia, Europe and even Australia. If you were from a country where it was very hard to survive because of employment shortages or political instability then you would for sure file for immigration to a country that can provide you with a stable environment. There were a few important things that people were looking for better employment opportunities, education, health and even ownership of some sort of asset. In this day and age there are still people looking for the same things however getting immigration approval has become much more difficult. If you are wondering why then there are some very important reasons why immigration policies have changed over several years.

Events around the world have definitely had an impact on our immigration policies. Many governments are not that free anymore because of terrorist events or how certain groups have caused instability within the country over the last several years. Governments now require much more evidence before you can even apply for immigration status. They require you to produce a track record of your education and criminal activities before they will even consider your application. We are not saying that every person applying for immigration will be a terrorist or cause problem, however very few people have spoiled the rewards for everyone else making it much more difficult to have granted immigration. Next, many governments before approving any immigration status will like to see if there is a need for that type of occupation with the country. In the 1950`s Canada was growing and required almost every type of trade so that it can continue to grow and prosper. Since then things have changed and there are only very few shortages in certain occupational fields. Most likely when you apply they will look at what type of asset you can be towards employments and investment within the country and this will have a positive weight on your application. Sometimes an occupational stand point if not the only view which is taken because having a large sum of money with the plan to invest within a country can help as well. Again since many jobs are filled and we have an influx of local people who can almost fill jobs within Canada, there is no longer a severe need of foreign workers to immigrate here.


Canada is the second largest country however living space is only scattered through provinces meaning we have a lot of undeveloped land. Since many cities are still growing we have room for people to immigrate in however not at the rate that we saw 40 years ago. To grant people immigration to a country sometimes take more than the stamp of approval because governments spend millions of dollars trying to make sure that each person granted immigration will be able to secure a job and have a place to live. Not to mention that making sure that resources are available for everyone to survive and flourish.
